Andrea Cook

Andrea comes to us with almost 20 years of nonprofit experience.  Prior to the Johnston Partnership, Andrea was will Central Iowa Shelter & Services and Catholic Charities of Des Moines.  Her work included other food pantry positions and family homeless shelter staff.  Andrea is fed by the work she does, always looking for ways to improve herself and others.  Over her adult life, Andrea has volunteered with church and school organizations, as well as other poverty awareness and social justice programs.

When not at work, she can be found spending time with her 3 kids, or in her kitchen baking for self-care.

Jane Alderman

Pantry Operations – Partnership Place

Jane joins us after a career in the life insurance industry as a business analyst.  She has served on the boards of charitable and social justice organizations and is active in her church’s Peace and Justice committee.  She often facilitates social justice education classes through the Center for Social Ministry.  She is grateful to now work for a non-profit and be in service to individuals and families.  

In her leisure time Jane enjoys reading (mostly non-fiction) and foreign tv shows, especially Korean.  Sub-titles don’t phase her.  She and her husband share a love of plants and tending their yard of hydrangeas, hostas and heucheras.  Luckily, she is an avid weed puller.

The Backbone of Our Organization

We couldn’t do half of what we do here at Johnston Partnership if it wasn’t for our awesome volunteer.  Volunteers keep the shelves stocked, walk alongside clients to find food, picking up bulk food order, sort and stock shelves, mentor youth and serve as the face of the Johnston Partnership.

Without their unwavering dedication to fighting hunger and willingness to make our community better; we could not serve thousands of our neighbors each month.
