Pantry Driver/ Associate
Pantry Driver/Associate- Johnston Partnership for a Healthy Community
Are you looking for a position to give back to the community and serve those in need? Johnston Partnership has the perfect opportunity for you. The Johnston Partnership, located in Johnston, Iowa, is seeking a Pantry Associate & Driver to support operations at our non-profit Food Pantry/Clothing Closet facility. This person will help with pantry order pick up, delivery, and other pantry operations. Ability to lift 50-80 lbs continually, driving, loading, unloading of our box truck and working 1-2 Saturdays per month is necessary; averages around 15-20 hours a week. Other hours are flexible as assigned by the management. This position works closely with our Pantry Operations Manager, allowing us to provide human services to Johnston and surrounding communities.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Drive to pick up and unload weekly orders for pantry inventory.
● Coordinate with Pantry Operations to utilize volunteers as needed for unloading and shelving of weekly orders, food rescue, and other donations.
● Communicate vehicle maintenance/needs to leadership.
● Work with the Pantry Operations to organize food rescue and other partner agencies for the driving toand picking up food.
● Log/track food, clothing, and other donations for reporting purposes.
● Use best practices during transport for food safety, as well as health and safety around vehicle operations.
● Be available during Tuesday/Thursday operating hours and two Saturdays a month to facilitate pantry operations and assist volunteers and clients with donations, inventory, stocking, and logistics.
● Provide monthly updates to the Program Director of current needs and successes.
● Work with Pantry Operations and Executive Director on future planning and implementation for the distribution of services in the community.
● Perform any other duties associated with the orderly operation of the Food Pantry/Clothing Closet and/or assigned by the Director.
Required Personal Qualifications
● Ability to work as a part of a team as well as individually.
● Valid driver’s license and clean driving record with no suspensions in the last 5 years, no DUI citations in the past 7 years, no more than 3 accidents in the last 5 years, and no more than 3 traffic tickets in the last 5 years.
● Proven experience as a driver, preferably with large vehicles is preferred.
● Ability to safely operate a box truck, pallet jack, and lift gate.
● Easily read and follow maps and directions.
● Experience working in non-profit setting is preferred; but not required.
● Computer skills in data entry, Microsoft products, and Google platforms preferred but not required.
● Requires heavy lifting (lifting up to 100 pounds; normal lifting will be 30-50 pounds continually).
Pay rate will be between $15-18/hour.
